A chronic disease which affects the respiratory tracts and airways is commonly called asthma. It irritates the airways so as to make the breathing of your baby more difficult and labored. Such disease can be inherited which means that if the family have history of asthma, most likely, the following generations will have the tendency to develop such disease.

Adults have their own way of living through asthma. In fact, it seems normal to them already when they feel out of air should asthma attack them. Some would simply sit tight and relaxed and continue breathing for minutes, and slowly they will regain their composure from the attack itself. Grown ups already knew how to deal with it. The question is, how will the babies deal with it?

Asthma is deadly. Remember, a person can live a week without food and water, however, he will die within a minute if he cannot breathe oxygen. So, the very first thing you should observe about your baby is the way he normally breathes. There are those who are born with it and there are also babies who have just developed the disease due to infection. Knowing the normal breathing rhythms of your baby will make you aware if there are abnormalities in his respiratory system.

Consulting your doctor about the disease will educate you what to do when the disease attacks and what are the medications you should use for your baby. Remember that you should not delay in giving the medication to your baby when the attack starts. More often than not, doctors prescribed quick reliever medications to open up the airways.

One tip, if your baby coughs, sneezes and wheezes more often, you should immediately consult with your physician because more likely, he has developed asthma.

Treatment must always be observed during the attack and you should not fail to use any of the medications prescribed. However, it would be better to prevent it first hand by learning the factors that triggers the attacks. Usually, allergies from food and too much activity will be the ones to cause asthma attacks. As parents, you have the right to do things which you think are best for the health of your baby.

Do not let your baby suffer from asthma; he is just too little to experience hardships in breathing.
