Things You Need to Learn if Your Baby Has Anaphylactic Shock

Anaphylactic shock is a rapid allergic reaction most often called as anaphylaxis; this is one of the scariest moments for parents if their babies have this kind of allergy. This will start if the immune system of the baby will respond mistakenly to those harmless substances.  This is one of the reasons of having some symptoms of allergy because this kind of allergic reaction releases the histamines and is very dangerous.

Some symptoms of anaphylactic shock include the following;

*Diarrhea

*Hives

*Vomiting

*Loss of consciousness

*Swelling of the skin, throat, lips, tongue and face

*Wheezing or breathing problem

*Pale skin and sweating skin redness and blue skin color

This allergy is not common to babies aging 6 months under for the reason that they are not yet exposed to some food allergens.  Some of the studies saying that babies can get food allergy if they are exposed on it, but there were some reported cases that babies aging 1 month may also have an anaphylaxis even if they are not exposed to some allergens.

Substances that can cause severe reaction

One of the most common is peanut, tree nuts (like cashews and walnuts) shellfish (like shrimp and lobster) fish milk, eggs and culprits. So many researches were being conducted by scientists and they prove that anyone can have an allergy, not just in foods but also to drugs like:

*Penicillin and amoxicillin

*Insect bites like: bumblebees, honeybees, yellow jackets, hornets, wasps, fire ants and harvester ants

*Latex (used in healthcare facilities)

*Food preservatives and colorings (like FDC yellow No. 5)

What to do if baby having a severe reaction?

Call a doctor or the 911 if is having a problem on breathing, and remain calm try to lay down his/her feet and to your baby try to calm him down. Avoid giving him an antihistamine if he has problem on breathing. Just wait on paramedics to arrive and they inject your baby an epinephrine, a kind of drug that makes the heartbeat more strongly and helps to relax the muscles and reduces swelling and increases the blood flow to vital areas like brain and heart.

As parents, we need to know the allergies of our children and its causes for the early prevention, we also need to bring them to the doctors for prevention and to know what to do if they are having their allergies.
