It is a normal thing for new parents to have fears in making mistakes in taking care of their precious baby. Most of the time, they cannot spend time in another room or out of sight of their child without worrying. The need for checking the baby without physically going near the crib and avoiding waking up the baby needlessly led to the invention of this modern tool in parenting–baby monitors.
While there are people who feel that having a baby monitor robs them of their deserved “break” from the stress and the hassles of parenting, a large majority believes otherwise. For most people, the invention of this tool help them take care of their baby remotely creating a freer world for the baby to explore and learn from his world without the physical presence of adults. Parents are given the chance to spend quality minutes with each other while at the same time taking turn watching over their kid from a distance.
A baby monitor has practical uses for parents. For example, a baby monitor gives the option of a flashing light indicator that increasingly flashes when the baby increases his cry or shriek. This saves the parent from hearing that painful scream from his baby especially if he/she is doing something like preparing dinner in the kitchen or taking a bath. Video monitors offer visual surveillance when the baby is sleeping or is awake and playing. This eliminates audio tracking which can become annoying over time.
Other wireless monitors features more than one receiver thus, good for large houses or for two parents monitoring from the different location in the house. There are also receivers that are attached to belts or have specially designed belt clips for parents who go around the house and cannot use hand-held receivers.
Monitors are also designed to work in special set of frequencies to optimize reception. Knowing the operating frequency is important because other equipment or devices in the house might use the same frequency. For example, there are mobile phones that work on a 2.4 Ghz so it’s best to avoid using baby monitor on the same frequency.
Parents with pets in the house can buy specially designed monitors that can alert them if a cat or dog is surveying their kid’s crib perimeter. That will ensure smooth sailing relationship between you and your pets if they get too excited to get acquainted with your kid.
Sounds like sci-fi? Welcome to the modern world of parenting!
