The Effects of Constipation in Your Baby’s Health
Constipation is so traumatic for little babies because what seems to be pleasurable for them will turn into something which is not. In babies, the stool or wastes he discharges depend on what kind of food he eats and how quick his digestion. There are two ways on how to know if your baby suffers from constipation.
- If he’s bowel movement is not in normal condition, particularly if he has not one in three or more days.
- The stool that comes out is dry even how regularly he discharges his wastes.
Why babies experience constipation?
Babies who are breastfed are the ones who will always experience the constipation because breast milk has the perfect balance of fat and protein, in which can trigger into hard stools. If you notice that kind of situation in your baby, you can directly go to the doctor and ask for a prescription and what are the things you need to be done.
If your baby begins to eat hard foods, sometimes he baby can experience hard stools if he discharges; but that is normal for the babies nothing to worry about that.
Dehydration in babies is also one of the reasons why they have hard stools, for the reason that if your baby were not getting sufficient fluid, his system would absorb fluids from his wastes and the result is hard stools.
Illnesses in babies can also be one of the causes of constipation; this is called hypothyroidism or a metabolic disorder, in which baby can experience a painful condition during his discharging of wastes.
The Different Kinds of Baby Constipation
- Organic constipation is associated with developmental disabilities or anatomical defects in any section of the large intestine. It can be visible at birth due to lack of an independent defecation.
- Hirschsprung’s disease is a congenital hypoplasia of the nerve endings in the intestinal wall, may result of narrowing the lower regions of the colon and in overlying section (an extension that causes the delay of defecation). According to study, this disease is uncommon and may only occur 1 case per 5000 children.
- Dolichosigmoid this can lengthen one of the division of the colon (sigmoid colon). This disease may happen a lot, and among the victims are children at aged 3-4 years old who suffer from constipation; 40% are children with dolichosigmoid.
Constipation has huge effect on baby’s body. Child may become weak; the loss of appetite may be one factor that causes the deterioration of the baby’s health. In addition, inflammation may develop in the intestine (colitis), increase its intestinal motility that may cause abdominal pain, expanding the diameter of the intestine and may lead to more constipation.
