Preventing Baby Eczema: What Every Parent Should Know
Many are suffering from eczema around the world. Most of the victims are babies and children aging around five years down to six months old. Baby Eczema is also known as infantile eczema and atopic dermatitis. This illness has no medicines to cure it, because it is not yet fully known or scientists have not fully fathomed what caused the reactions. But somehow we can avoid it or at least we can reduce its symptoms. The symptoms usually come suddenly, stay for a moment, and then disappear but returns some time later.
Only a few adults have experienced this kind of illness, but sometimes they carry it for the rest of their lives. But there are studies say that babies suffering from eczema are sometimes have possibility that they only taken or get in contact with any substance that are capable of producing an allergic reaction like bronchitis, hay fever, and asthma. Baby Eczema is not an infectious disease, but scratching it continuously can cause scratch the skin and breaks it, by doing so, you are making it prone to any infection.
If you found out that your baby always have itching on any part of his skin, he may be having eczema. There are usually physical symptoms that you can see in your baby’s skin such as dryness, and reddening. And it is really itchy! That is why stopping your baby from scratching his skin is hard to do. Treating eczema is the only way to stop the itching, but by preventing eczema, you have to prevent or to get rid of the things that can cause the illness.
Now, to get rid of baby eczema you have to put moisturizers unto the skin of your baby, because eczema is usually caused by dry skin. It can give your baby relief and may reduce the outbreak. You may have known some home remedies, feel free to use them for as long as they are not dangerous for your baby. Also, medications are important to your baby especially if the illness becomes severe. However, it is better to bring your baby to the doctor to see the illness. Doctors may prescribe anti-inflammatory medications, like topical ointment which is for severe outbreak and also acts as anti-biotic. You can also relieve the illness by wrapping your baby’s inflamed skin with clothed that is soaked to salt and warm water. It only has to stay there for 30 minutes; after which you have pat it dry and put some moisturizers.
There are two types allergens that are possible causes of eczema and these are: Internal allergens and External allergens.
Internal Allergen – are the substances that your baby have eaten and caused the reaction.
External allergen – are the chemicals and substances that can be found outside such us, dust, the most common and major cause, synthetic and those scratchy materials like wool and others that cause the reaction.
Prevention is always better than cure. So, as much as possible, prevent baby eczema from developing in your baby’s skin by simply cleaning him up always.
