The National Institute of Health in the United States affirms that 25% of the infants born every year are affected by eczema. Although, it is not an illness it keeps on rising every year which links to food allergies. However, there are a lot of factors which causes the irritation of the skin. Therefore, not all cases of eczema can be attributed to food intake or any dietary factors.
The skin of newborn babies will never become dirty for about few weeks considering the facts that you would not want your baby to be exposed under dust and dirty environment. So, generally, if you will not interfere with it, the more it grows healthier. However, there are times when the water contains more acid or base that you really have to neutralize it. And the fact that you certainly cannot tell if the water is either of the two, you just want to play safe. Therefore, it is advisable to add little amount of lemon juice to the water which will be used to bathe your baby. The purpose is simply to reduce the acidity of the water and add natural ascorbic acid which is needed for the healthy development of your baby’s skin. Or, should you opt to use moisturizer, make sure to buy fragrance-free baby oil; if possible, chose the one with sunflower oil as it serves as antibacterial.
In times like your baby’s skin becomes irritated, as they normal will over time, prepare a Dead Sea salts or Epsom salts as they have been acclaimed, medically and clinically proven to soothe skin which is irritated. The Epsom salt is never a salt itself; it is a magnesium sulfate by nature which is used in soothing scorched, inflamed and irritated skin. On the other hand, Dead Sea salt is the kind which originally came from Israel; it is from the Dead Sea water which is dried under the sun naturally.
The point is, eczema is oftentimes the result of magnesium and zinc deficiency in which if not treated right away, will lead to severe skin damage like seborrheic dermatitis or would even lead to skin cancer.
In this point, if a baby is breast-fed and develops eczema, the primary suspect is the mother’s diet. The truth is, it is still due to lack of zinc as the breast milk is really low when it comes to such mineral. But not all cases of eczema can be attributed to zinc deficiency because it can also be a deficiency in magnesium.
If such is the case, a blood test will be required to know the root-cause of the eczema. Should there’ll be a deficiency in either of the two minerals, it is advised that the mother should take more of them to nourish the baby better. Also, fatty acids like contained in Vitamin B and family are required for the mother who are breastfeeding their babies.
Eczema is never an illness; it is often referred to as a deficiency. Thus, it is caused by malnutrition on the skin. Taking in the prescribed food will certainly resolve the irritation on your baby’s skin. However, it is always advisable to prevent it by eating healthy and nutritious foods than curing it when it comes. Never wait for it to come to take action. As a mother, eat what you think is best for your baby.
