Numbers You Need to Have for your Child Safety

Every parent should have a concise list of important numbers in a prominent place, like the front of the refrigerator. Not only will you need to have these numbers at your fingertips in an emergency, so will a babysitter or relative.

I found out the hard way tonight. We just moved and I had not yet put my list on the refrigerator.

I needed to call Poison Control and did not have the number on had, I ended up at the emergency room with my child and may have saved myself a trip had I been able to come up with the number an easy fashion. As it was, I was in a panic and could not think through the fog to find it, so I just drove to the E.R.

1. Poison Control 1-800-222-1222
2. Your local Emergency Room that has pediatric doctors on staff. Not all do.
3. Your pediatrician
4. An after hours walk-on clinic that takes pediatric patients. We have a chain here in my area that takes only children.
5. Your child’s insurance info and drug allergies

It’s a simple list that could save you time, and may be even a life. You can be assured I have my list back up now.
