As I was having lunch with my girl friends, one of them, a single mom, shared a heart warming story. One day when she was organizing her papers, she came across a folded paper. She opened it from its airplane form and it was a letter from her seven year old son. Just looking at the scribbling, the attempt to compose a sweet letter of her son for her, tears started to well in her eyes.
Her son said: Mom, you are my hero. You are way better than the Power Rangers. You always make me feel good even when I am sad. You always make things better. Each day I look forward to waking up because I know it is your touch that will I feel, your soothing voice I will hear. When you bid me off for school, your kiss on my check makes me feel that it will be a good day. Then when you pick me up after hours of lessons, even if I am tired, I get excited when I see you. I can not wait to tell you what I learned from teacher and to share with you stories from my classmates.
When you give me a bath, I look forward to it because I know it is play time for us. I feel that you are concerned that I am always clean. Your constant reminders to brush my teeth and wash my hands, makes me know how much you care for me. When you powder me, it is like you put a shield on me, to protect me from the day’s heat.
Then you sit down with me and guide me with my homework. I enjoy this time because I know I will be able to show you how much I learned from school and I want you to see how you prepared me very well. I want you to be proud of me. As I hear your praises, I feel ten feet tall. Everything else becomes a breeze.
When you leave the house for work or to do your errands, I still feel your presence. Before you leave, you make sure I have all that I need. You prepare my snack and endorse me to grandma or the helper. Even if you are not there I still keep in mind all of your reminders because when you come home I want to tell you that I was a good boy. Then I will see your warm smile and I know I have made you happy.
I am so thankful to God mom that He gave me a mother like you. You are the greatest. Do not worry when I am bigger I will take good care of you. I will be beside you in everything you do. And if someone makes you cry, I will defend you. I want everyone to know that I have a super mom like you.
