Homemade Baby Wipes

Homemade Baby Wipes

When a new baby joins your family, one of the first things you will learn is how expensive a baby can be! Diapers alone coast a fortune. Then you factor in the new clothes baby needs as he grows like a weed, the formula is your are bottle feeding, a crib, changing table, all those cool toys you cannot help but buy, doctors bills, baby proofing items, and the list just goes on and on.

Frugality may take on a whole new meaning for you. So, let’s start talking more often about some of the ways you can cut cost and still have everything you want and need to care for baby.

Homemade baby wipes will save you a bundle. The first thing you need to do is find an airtight plastic storage container that is big enough to hold a standard role of paper towels. You will reuse this over and over, so go ahead and buy one with a good seal.

Next, choose your paper towels wisely. You want them to be soft. I love Viva for this purpose. They are soft, absorbent, and durable.

When you choose your ingredients, try and find natural products that are not petroleum based (they can dry skin). Instead of traditional baby oil, companies like Burt’s Bees make a lovely Apricot Baby Oil. You could also just use standard grape seed oil or something equally as natural.

Here is your mixture:

* ¼ cup baby wash
* ¼ cup baby oil
* ¼ cup baby lotion
* Two cups hot water

Combine all ingredients, mixing well. Make sure the water is very hot so that the lotion mixes well with the other ingredients.

Using one roll of paper towels, remove all the towels from the cardboard center. You may want to unroll the towels still attached, so you can easily pull more than one towel off out of the container in some cases.

Place your towels in the container and pour half of the liquid mixture over the top, taking care to saturate all of the towels. Then, turn the towels over and use the remaining half of the liquid mixture to saturate the other side.

There you have it: homemade baby wipes. They will cost less than buying a box at the store and since you have chosen all of the ingredients, they will probably also be higher quality.
