Having a Hard Time Making Your Child Eat Fish?

Children are picky when it comes to foods. That is why all parents are having hard times making their children eat especially when the food includes fish. 

When nutrition is the topic, fish meat is one of the best sources of nutrients and minerals that human body needs. And your children need these nutrients to have healthier body and better brain development. In fact, studies show that fish is very important for children under 1 year old because it is a great prevention from developing eczema at early age. Aside from that, fishes have high omega 3 natural oils contents which are important in the development of the muscles and organs; they are also considered brain boosters. 

The trick is that you must know how to cook which your children should love to eat. And for you to be guided accordingly here are some tips which you need to learn and do to have your children acquire the nutrients they need from fishes; 

  • You must make sure that the fishes you buy do not have many bones. Aside from the danger it brings, children will easily be discouraged in eating them when bones are present every time they chew. So, be picky in choosing the kinds of fishes.
  • Observe moist when cooking. Dry cooking will not be favored by your children. In fact, it releases good tastes when the fish is cooked dryly. There are also fish meats which are usually dry when cooked especially when fried; a good seasoning is needed for them to taste better. When you poach, add a little broth or water so that you can perfectly cook the meat without drying it out completely. And such should be observed when poaching fishes with white flesh like sole and flounder.
  • Fish sticks can sometimes solve your problem in cooking. If you don’t have that much time to prepare your food for your children, purchase pre-prepared fish sticks just to give your children another option in the table.
  • Try the mix-up technique. Don’t you know that children love to eat foods which are mixed up with other foods? Thus, it is advantageous for you if you mix up a tuna fish with your favorite tomato sauce and pineapple chunks. Then serve it to your children.
  • Dip it up style. Fish sticks are usually the answer for the children who love to dip their food into sauces, ketchup, and ranch or honey mustard. If that is the case, cook it dry and crisp so that your children can enjoy their meal with their favorite sauce.
  • Fish for snack time. That is right! Fish is not just good for your meals; it is also good for snack time. You can either make your own tuna sandwich or mix canned salmon with your yogurt and spread it over the crackers and breads. 

Only a few understand the importance of fish in the growth of their children. Such is a mistake and most parents make. So, as early as now, you must know that fish is needed for healthier growth and development of your children. 

If you can make your children eat plenty of fish, you can ensure that they will grow healthier than others. Health is one thing you can offer best to your children!
