Diarrhea in Infants
Most cases of diarrhea in Infants are caused by viruses, are short and resolve spontaneously. Infants and young children (under 3) can dehydrate quickly, so they must be monitored very carefully. Check with your child’s doctor if:
* A Infant (under 3 months) has diarrhea
* Diarrhea persists in older infants or children for two days or more
* Diarrhea containing blood
It is recommended to ensure that the baby is getting enough fluids. Often, the doctor recommended fluids that contain electrolytes, which are advised to follow the doctor’s instructions. If the mother is breastfeeding, will probably continue to recommend, if possible also to provide the child extra fluids.
