Bedtime Challenge between Mom and Baby

“Mommy, I don’t want to go to bed yet. Can I sleep later?” Are you familiar with these lines? Well, if you happen to be a mom, or anyone nursing a little child, surely you have heard of them a lot. Of course, they are the frequent statements uttered by your little ones. As a mother, how will you make a rebuttal to this avowal?

Seldom would you find parents not complaining about their toddler’s reaction when it comes to bedtime. Likewise, it is even hardly ever you’ll know of toddlers not complaining the moment they hear their moms saying, “Time for bed, baby!” So, if you are the mother, what will you do to overcome this bedtime challenge between you and your baby?

To give you some clue, it would take more patience, insistence and strategy. The first two are the usual requirements in terms of positive attitude a parent should possess and make use of. The third is a bit complex. Yet, there is a simple way to discover and develop the best stratagem to succeed in the bedtime challenge.

Acquiring the best bedtime tactic requires you to know more about your child. Not just in one aspect but rather everything that makes him what he is – personality. Once you have known him closely, it would be easier for you to ascertain his strength and limitation. Gradually, you have to work on them for you to find the best possible resolution to the issue. It all depends on the approach you will use to make bedtime as easy as it should.

After knowing your child’s character, you may have to consider doing the usual bedtime routine tricks used by most parents. One of the common tricks is reading a bedtime story to your child prior to sleeping. I should say this is the most effective trick I’ve used for my little one. And so to speak, bedtime is no longer a dispute for me at this time! It is one of child’s natures to love listening to stories. Actually, it is not just about the story you tell, more than that is your interesting tone of voice, which they’d love to listen to. So, you better make your voice better, the next time you read a story to your kid. Furthermore, reading stories is essential to your child’s mental development and harness his creativity.

Other than story-telling, you can also make use of the common suggestions from different parenting resources. To name a few of the effective tricks, you can try singing him a lullaby, for babies really love music. You can also try giving him a soothing bathe prior to bedtime, help him in his bedtime preparation, providing enough time to prepare for bed, and you may have to remind him again about five minutes prior to bedtime. Again, use the finest approach when telling him he has to go to bed. Be sure not to complicate things, or else you’ll have to handle the consequences.

Scientifically, we are aware that sleeping is essential to children, especially in terms of achieving total growth and development. As parents, you are obliged to facilitate your child and help him attain this sleeping benefit. As much as possible, give your child enough sleep everyday. Eight hours is the suggested number and that is what ENOUGH is. Don’t let this bedtime number be deducted…
