Tips to Keep Your Baby’s Room Organized

Tips to Keep Your Baby’s Room Organized

Bringing a new member of the family into a household is always a little stressful. Until you get your new routine down, organization is key to keeping your sanity – and even after you’re in the groove, staying organized definitely helps you avoid more stress than necessary.

But with a brand new baby, organization can seem impossible. How can you make sure your little bundle of joy has an organized room? Here are a few tips:

  • Organize during naps.

From day one, get your baby used to someone else being in the room while they’re napping. If you close the door, draw the shades, and keep as quiet as a mouse, that’s what they’ll be used to, and you’ll never be able to go into the room to fold clothing, empty the trash, or do other tasks. You don’t need to run your vacuum during baby’s naps, but get them used to a little noise so you can maximize your time.

  • Store items where they are used.

If you feed baby on the rocking chair in your bedroom, keep some bibs and burping towels in a draw in the nightstand. Keep extra trash bags in near the diaper pail. Give your baby his or her laundry basket. When items are stored near where they are used, it’s easier to keep on top of things.

  • Do laundry on a routine.

With a new baby, laundry can start to pile up in a hurry. If you make it part of your daily routine, though, you won’t even notice it! For example, maybe every morning, you collect the laundry and put in the washer, ready to go so all you have to do is start it when you get home from work. Think of dishes in the same way – make sure the sink is clear every morning before you leave for work, so all you have to do Is start the dishwasher after dinner every night.

  • Make a place for everything.

It’s a lot easier to stay organized when there’s a place for every item in your home – including in your baby’s room. Everything from extra bottles to toys should have a place where it can be stored out of the way. That way, you’ll be able to stay more organized during the day. Spend a few minutes putting everything in its place at the end of the night and it will be easier to stay organized.
